About me

I have been painting bobbins for over forty years now and have customers all over the world. The first design I painted were the orchids on ebony, still a popular choice and many other designs have come and gone over the years. Painting is a joy and it is always interesting trying to paint around a bobbin ! I specialise in commemorative bobbins too, for lace groups and meetings, anniversaries, special occasions and family trees.

It is not possible to show every design in lightwood, ebony and bone but the Bobbins Gallery will give you a good idea of my painting style. If you download or view the catalogue it will give you some ideas

You can download a .pdf catalogue and the latest 2021 price list

If you need a bobbin in a hurry either for a gift or just to treat yourself, please call or email to see what I have in stock which can be sent straight way.

I use mainly Stuart Johnson's bobbins which are always popular with lacemakers and some other bobbin makers too. All bobbins are coated with several coats of varnish to protect the design. As they are handpainted, slight variations may arise and please note that I do not recommend the use of bobbin winders as they can damage the bobbins.

I am happy to spangle bobbins for you but the beads may not be exactly the same as those shown as the bead stock changes all the time however I can assure you that the colours will be matched to the colouring in the bobbin.

Kind Regards and happy lacemaking
